I need a break.
It’s difficult to write that, but I feel compelled to own it.
I really don’t want to do anything during the next two weeks and I’m going to try my hardest to make it happen. Or not happen. 🙂
We glorify work in this country. I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. I love to work and I take great pride in the strong work ethic my parents instilled in me. I’m doing what I love and am focused on serving with the skills and knowledge I’ve been blessed to share, so my work adds meaning and purpose to my life.
But it’s not all I am.
I’m a tea lover who can experience exquisite bliss in a beautifully brewed cup of tea.
I’m a travel junkie who still fantasizes about the idea of living every 2-3 years in different countries.
I’m a mother who absolutely relishes the sound of my daughter’s laughter and endless teen chatter. I love seeing my son adapt to life in college and staying true to the amazing human he’s always been. I love to watch them dance together as they clean the kitchen after family dinners.
I’m a poet, cook, reader, nature lover.
I’m a wife, daughter, sister and friend.
And as I head into the holidays, ready to take a desperately needed break, my intention is to sink into all the comfy chairs of who I am.
I’ll take the time to rest, relax and renew, then come back ready to “walk out like someone born into color” as Rumi so beautifully expresses it.
I wish you peace, hope and energy to make 2021 your best year ever!
Happy Holidays!
